Enjoying some time with the family.
A big thank you to all of my pen pals this week!
I made these fun, heart-shaped earrings out a Diet Dr. Pepper can. (I used the bottle lid to show size.)
Home ownership (noun): A long and winding road with no end in sight!
Before: Cracked, dirty, roughly textured plaster & cement board walls with equally unattractive painted/stained pine floor. After: Freshly painted ultra-white bead board wall paneling with refinished pine floors.
I had no idea this was a two-toned lily. What a beautiful surprise!
I am overwhelmingly excited that we now have curbside recycling. I've already filled the can to the top (and we just got it today!).
This has been a Hitchcock kind of week. On Sunday, I watched a bird chase a cat up and down my street. Yesterday, two quarreling birds almost flew into my windshield. Now this creepy winged creature is keeping watch over our house...
I saw the most amazing sunset tonight. I risked life and limb to snap a few pictures with my point-and-shoot as I was traveling along the interstate. Unfortunately, none of the pictures were worth the card they are stored on, so you're stuck with an oldie I took last summer of a dragonfly at Lake Norman State Park.
How many words can you make with the letters featured in the picture above?
The rear bumper of a classic Chevy Impala.
More simple street art.
Admittedly, I didn't get a very good picture of this gem. Its owner came out and asked for $5/picture, and although I know he was joking, it made me incredibly uncomfortable to have an audience.
A simple expression of street art.
This bad boy grazes in a field on nearby farm.
While Grant and Mallory are in Jamaica, Fin is spending the week with Uncle Gromit. They have had a fun time playing tug-of-war and chasing each other all over the house.
The happy couple make their final debut as they head out on their way to JAMAICA!
Can I come to the wedding? I promise I'll be good...
After almost 5 years, we are so happy that these two lovebirds, who actually met at our wedding, are finally getting hitched.
Today was such a wonderful day! It rained for the first time in WEEKS, and China Grove is getting curbside recycling effective July 1st. Hooray!
Not quite as beautiful as a sunset over the Blue Ridge, but it'll do for now.
Gromit has decided that he enjoys playing with rubber duckies. I tried to put my bathrobe on him for an all-out photoshoot, but he was having none of that.
Alphabetic artwork on the sidewalk outside my public library. Congratulations on another year of wedded bliss, Mr. & Mrs. Konstantaras!
South Rowan Public Library turns 100 this year. In honor of this momentous occasion, a big birthday celebration was held at the Headquarters branch this afternoon. Cake, ice cream, Cheerwine, and pictures with Roary the Reading Tiger were among the incentives for attendance.
My friend and co-worker, Rob Howle, plays a classical tune on his guitar. He's amazingly talented!

We had a busy Saturday! Seth and Chris worked on finishing the paneling in our downstairs bedroom while I tended to our yard sale. I did sneak an impromptu photoshoot with the lovely Miss Sammy while she was perched in our Crape Myrtle tree. Who knew such a dainty little princess would love swinging from trees so much?
Today was filled with poking and prodding, starting with a dentist appointment and ending with my annual physical. They sent me to LapCorp for my bloodwork, which I was told was "right across the street from K&W." Liars. Jersey Mike's is right across the street from K&W. LabCorp is half a mile down the road on the backside of an office building with no signage. When I finally found it, I just had to laugh.
In case you missed it too, here's a close up. It was literally like finding a needle in a haystack. Har har!
Thank you, Food Lion, for insulting my intelligence.
Another borrowed pic from last May, taken on the boardwalk in [Little] Washington. I hope to get back on track tomorrow...
